How to enable extended resolution in Call of Duty Warzone in 2022?

Call of Duty Warzone is one of the biggest Battle Royale games of 2022. The game, which was re-released on March 10, 2020, is more than two years old, so the competitive aspect of the game is kept alive with new seasons arriving almost every two months.

Call of Duty Warzone Pacific allowed players to relive the past with the integration of Call of Duty Vanguard weapons added to the mix.

With over a quarter of a million players playing this game all the time, users will want to have whatever competitive advantage they can to secure a victory. This isn't just limited to top or meta guns in downloads, but also other factors like internet connection, framerate, and most importantly screen resolution.

Easy steps to enable extended resolution in Call of Duty Warzone

Extended resolution, as the name suggests, is a feature where users can change their screen resolution to appear stretched using in-game settings and software. Extended resolution is not a new phenomenon, as esports players often use this trick in Valorant, CS: GO, Fortnite, Apex, and more. However, it is currently limited to PC gamers only.

The reason extended resolution can be helpful is because it helps users perceive enemies and opponents 'wider' and aim at them and focus their shots more precisely. This article aims to show players how to enable extended resolution in Call of Duty Warzone:

Step 1) Open Nvidia Control Panel and select your display

First of all, users need to change their screen resolution using GPU software; this will make the game recognize the extended resolution as a native resolution. (This article focuses on Nvidia users and the steps are almost the same for AMD users).

To enable the feature: First, right-click on your home screen and select Nvidia Control Panel. Windows 11 users need to select more options after right-clicking and then select Nvidia control panel.

Next, navigate to the Change Resolution option located under the Image category in the left panel. For single monitor users, your monitor will already be selected.

Multiple monitor users will need to select the monitor they intend to play on and proceed to create the custom resolution.

Step 2) Create and apply custom resolution

To enable the extended resolution, users must create a new resolution. This is because stretched resolutions are not recognized as native resolutions. Extended 1440x1080 resolution will be used for Call of Duty Warzone. To do this: In Change Resolution, click the Customize button located below the list of available resolutions.

Click the checkbox and click the Create Custom Resolution button.

In the Image section, enter 1440 and 1080 in the Horizontal Pixel and Vertical Line sections, respectively.

Click Test, then click Yes in the Apply Changes pop-up window. The custom resolution will then appear as a separate resolution under Custom. Click OK.

Then, in the list of available resolutions, navigate to the custom resolution you created (it should be at the top of the list), select it and click Apply.

The screen will appear stretched and now the final step will be taken. This will require you to open Call of Duty Warzone.

The final step will require players to open Call of Duty Warzone and change the in-game settings to make the game run at extended resolutions. To do this: First, open Call of Duty Warzone on and if the popup pops up, don't click yes to run this game in Safe Mode.

Go to Settings in the lobby and then access the Graphics section.

Under Render Resolution, click on Screen Resolution and select the custom resolution created from the list.

Then click on any of the available options except Auto from the Aspect Ratio option. Otherwise, the setting will return to its original state.

Click Apply Settings and the game will now look tense.

It is recommended that you do not try to remove them by changing the configuration of the game files, as black bars will be added to the top and bottom of the game. Note that any mistake during such action may render the game unplayable or even result in the player being banned.

Call of Duty Warzone is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
