Ubisoft's open-world pirate game Skull and Bones has leaked November 8 release date

Skull and Bones is an upcoming pirate action RPG developed by Ubisoft Singapore.

Ubisoft's Skull and Bones is an upcoming open-world pirate RPG that's been in development for a long time -- but it looks like it could finally be released this year. Rumor has it that the game will launch this year, and presumably the release date has been leaked via the Xbox Store listing.


According to Aggiornamenti Lumia, later confirmed by Tom Henderson, the game is scheduled to release on November 8, 2022. Ubisoft hasn't made any official comment or confirmation on the release date, but Henderson has a pretty solid track record when it comes to leaks and release dates.


Skull and Bones had a notoriously long development cycle, and the game was canceled and relaunched. Earlier this year, gameplay footage of the game's demo leaked on the internet - suggesting the game could almost be released this year.

The early concept of Skull and Bones came to fruition after the success of Assassin's Creed Black Flag and its surprisingly interesting naval combat mechanics. The original idea was for the game to be an extension of Black Flag, which morphed into a standalone MMO but eventually found its footing as a standalone project.


The game went through several iterations and became one of the most notorious games in the gaming industry, falling into "development hell". Finally, after several delays, the game is finally set to release this year, and it looks like Ubisoft will announce the game's release date soon.


It will be interesting to see how audiences react to the game and whether it will have the same impact as Black Flag during launch. Skill and Bones is the first game to be led by Singapore-based Ubisoft, the studio that has previously helped develop games such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Valhalla.
