Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 - New Map and Interesting Locations
A new chapter has started and a new map has been opened. Here's a look at the new map and all the exciting locations in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1.
The Fortnite Chapter 4 map was revealed just before the start of the Fortnite Chapter 3 Fracture live event. While it's likely that Fortnite's servers will be down for about 12 hours before the new chapter launches, it looks like the data has already been processed.
Leaks previously showed what the new map will look like, which Epic Games confirmed in its cinematic trailer, though it's hard to make out any specific POIs. No doubt we will soon learn more and understand why the island looks like it is floating in space.

Paradigm's sacrifice after Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 4 saw her form a new island with new challenges, enemies to hunt down, and new weapons. This island also boasts new attractions to discover throughout the season.
Since this is a new island map, you can spot familiar and new biomes, including snow and mountains, as well as a quirky-looking mining resource that can be found and used while mining at a mining facility. Let's take a look at all the new map POIs added to Season 1 Chapter 4 after launch:
- Lonely Labs: An unknown lab found in Brutal Bastion, but who owns it remains a mystery.
- Cruel Bastion: This important point is located northeast of Anvil Square, in the heart of the snowy mountain area that is home to the Reality Warriors. Who they might be, here's what you need to find out as you tackle these enemies and the snowy biome, including snowballs to hit with a pickaxe.
- Slappy Shores and Faulty Splits: A forest connects these two POIs east of Anvil Square, but little is known about these locations.
- Frenzy Fields: An abandoned farm covers this POI south of Anvil Square. Scattered throughout the farm are several buildings, including sheds and silos that can be destroyed for materials.
- Shattered Slabs: This is a utility item found northwest of Frenzy Fields. You can find an ominous mining resource, Kinetic Ore, throughout the area that can be used to attack enemies using its special sorcerous properties.
- Kovadla Square: a quaint village in the center of the new island map, surrounded by lush forests and a snow-capped mountain in the background. There are many buildings to explore and loot as this POI could become a hot spot in the new season.
- The Citadel: Located northwest of Anvil Square, this medieval landmark resembles a fortress now ruled by the Ageless One. You can face many intense battles and when Geralt of Rivia joins Fortnite soon, he can face The Ageless.
- Breakwater Bay: This POI is located on the far northwest side of the map, and based on its name and in-game appearance, it may be a port-like location. It appears that its territory surrounds the Citadel facility, but at the time of this writing no more can be determined.
Some have criticized the overwhelming number of POIs for Season 1 Chapter 4, but watching the cinematic trailer can answer many of those concerns. You'll see Paradigm destroy the previous island, combining different locations to form a new one, which means future POIs may be added to Fortnite as the season progresses, but we've yet to confirm that.
