How to get to Altus Plateau in Elden Ring (locations guide)
Check out the best routes for easy access to the Altus Plateau in the Elden Ring.
Elden Ring has many things to keep you occupied for hours. This is because the game has tons of bosses to fight and many regions to explore. However, as easy as it sounds, it is not, not all areas are easily accessible and are very difficult to unlock. One major player in the hard-to-reach region is the Altus Plateau. This area will allow you to solve various secrets and farm a lot of loot. If you're already trying to get to Altus Plateau in Elden Ring, but you're having trouble finding it, then we're here to help.
How to access Altus Plateau in Elden Ring? (Medallion method)
In order to access and reach the Altus Plateau, the player must activate the Dectus Great Lift with a locket. For those not in the know, the medallion is divided into 2 parts called the right medallion and the left medallion. Both of them are hidden in two different places, lying in a chest. So, without any further ado, let's start the walkthrough by finding the 2 hidden pieces.- To find the correct medallion, the player must travel to Fort Pharoth. While you're heading there, you're bound to come across enemies that you can avoid fighting. Once there, look out for the white bats, which are quite deadly and poisonous. Just grab the ladder, open the chest and there it is, the correct locket.
- Afterwards, head west to Fort Haight to find the left medallion. And there you will meet many creatures and a knight who tries to knock you down. Here you will need to fight the knight at some point or he won't leave you alone. But you can always avoid other creatures. After that, climb up the ladder and into the chest to successfully find the second part.
- After obtaining both parts of the Medallion, head to the Dectus Great Lift located at the end of the Bellum Highway in northern Liurnia. The route is quite long, so we recommend you take a horse to get to this area easily and quickly.
- And when you get there, head inside the castle-like building and stand on the circular platform located under the two statues. Once you do, pick up your medallions and this will trigger a cutscene connecting the pieces, allowing you to access the Altus Plateau in the Elden Ring.
This is how you get to one of the main regions in the game. If this route doesn't work for you, there is also a secret way to reach the Altus Plateau. Scroll down to find out more and you're all set.
Secret route to quickly reach Altus Plateau (no medallions required)
In this secret route, you will not need to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus with medallions. However, this secret path is certainly easy to use, but it also includes bosses and enemies that you will need to defeat in order to move forward.- First, head to Ravine Veiled Village, located in the northern part of Lake Liurnia.
- Once there, go up the stairs and climb the ladder on the left. The player will need to keep climbing several stairs to move forward.
- You will then come across an elevator that will take you to another dungeon-like cave filled with creatures that you can avoid fighting.
- And after you make your way to the Ruined Abyss, turn right and rest at the Grace Place if you want.
- Then take the elevator back up and you'll come across some bats that you'll have to fight. Just keep moving forward with the ladder and keep killing the enemies that come your way. Otherwise, they will not stop bothering you.
- Once you've climbed enough ladders, you'll have to fight a boss and a curved snake sword will drop out of it.
- Once you're done with that, fight the bats again and make your way through the elevator. And after moving forward, you will encounter the Magma Wyrm dragon, which you need to defeat to get the dragon heart and the sword.
- After that, move on and rest at Grazia's place if you want. When you're done, go up the stairs, take the elevator, and you'll be on the Altus Plateau.
