Marvel's Avengers is making all MCU skins available for free after final announcement
Marvel's Avengers will drop support later this year, but its multiplayer will live on. As a thank you to the players, each MCU skin will be given a big discount.
Writing has been on the wall for Marvel's Avengers, with rumors of end of support for the game by 2024. Well, that process has been accelerated by developer Crystal Dynamics. Marvel's Avengers is gearing up to drop all post-launch content later this year, but despite the game's bleak fate, there are a few silver linings. Players looking to snag every cosmetic are in luck as all Marvel's Avengers MCU skins are at a big discount.
Marvel's Avengers had a rocky few years after a shaky start marred by bugs and so-so reviews. The game has managed to summon a loyal following, however, as new content like the recent Winter Soldier update showed that there was still potential to be unlocked. The loadout itself even fought the case that Marvel's Avengers is worth saving in 2023. Unfortunately, this will not come to fruition.
Following an announcement on the official Marvel's Avengers Blog, developer Crystal Dynamics clarifies that we will not be adding any new content or features to Marvel's Avengers after "Update 2.8 on March 31, 2023."
Support for the game will end on September 30, 2023. The blog explains that "Starting March 31, 2023, we will be making all of the game's Marketplace, Challenge Map, and Shipping cosmetic content available to all players free of charge." Players can purchase any "Outfit , every takedown, every emote and every nametag" as a token of appreciation for gaming over the past two years.
This also means that every MCU skin is free in your inventory. Marvel's Avengers MCU skins typically cost around 2,400 Avengers Credits, which is around $19.99/£16.99. While the game has introduced sales over the years, the game's marketplace has remained expensive for regular players.
The first MCU skin came with Black Widow when Avengers: Endgame hit theaters. Since then, each character in the game's roster has received multiple outfits inspired by films such as Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. If you've been waiting to get your hands on this epic Infinity War-era Thor skin, wait a little longer.
Marvel's Avengers arrived on PS Plus in 2022, but there are plenty of titles to explore for PlayStation players. We're already looking forward to the February 2023 free PS Plus games list, as well as all upcoming PS5 games for 2023 and beyond.
